Sheriff Squeaker: Richie
survives primary challenge by 59 votes
BARRON September 12, 2006—In a close
primary election, Sheriff Thomas Richie survived a vigorous
challenge by John Postle, Sr. Richie received 59 more votes
than his opponent, and will go on to face Republican Richard
Carr in the general election, according to WQOW news.
On Thursday, the Barron County Canvassing Board
determined that the gap in tallies had narrowed to 59 votes.

Congressman Dave Obey faces Nick Reid in the
general; Senator Kohl faces Lorge. Kathleen Falk faces J.B.
Van Hollen for Attorney General. In the 25th Senate, Robert
Jauch runs agains Shirley Riedman in November, and Pat Kreitlow
faces incumbent Dave Zien, who won his primary race against
Karen Anderson 76 to 29%. In the 87th Assembly, Dewey Floberg
will run against Republican incumbent Mary Williams.
WI-3 Congressman Ron Kind beat his primary
opponent, anti-war Democrat Chip DeNure, 83%–17%.
The Cumberland School District referendum went
down 55.7% voted "no" to 44.2% "yes."
