If
there is a child on the south side of Chicago who can’t
read, that matters to me, even if it’s not my child.
—Senator Barack Obama, (D, Illinois)
One of the hallmarks of the
Democratic Party has been a concern for the well-being of every
citizen. While individualism is practically an American trademark,
there is another time-honored American characteristic to which
Democrats are well suited—unity. Our
party's sense of unity, its ability to make others' problems
common cause and find solutions for them, is its greatest strength.
That Democratic strength has, among other things, revolutionized
working conditions for all Americans, lifted senior citizens
and orphans out of poverty with Social Security, won World War
II, and put astronauts on the moon. As Democrats, we have done
great things.
And as Democrats, we can still do great
things. Every article listed here has been written by a member
of the Democratic Party of Barron County on some topic of public
concern. As you'll see, there is a lot of work to be done—and
we have a lot to say. Please read, enjoy, and be inspired.
