Reasons Bush and the Republican Party Have to Go

  1. Bush, his administration and the Republican House and Senate are bankrupting this country. The surplus is gone, the debt has soared--with no end in sight. He put us in a war with a bundle of lies and he hopes to put us in a few more. We cannot let him.
  2. The income tax cuts have benefited only the rich.
  3. The estate tax bill they're trying to pass profits only the very rich with another tax cut.
  4. The Medicare tax cut they passed benefits only the big drug companies at a huge cost to taxpayers.
  5. The energy bill just passed benefits the big oil companies, with lots of pork thrown in.
  6. The Social Security reform bill (privatizing) is deliberately designed to kill the wholes program.
(All the above programs are designed to empty the treasury and in so doing an claim there is no money left for Social Security or Medicare; eliminating these programs has been the Republicans' goal for decades)
  7. Their No Child Left Behind bill is underfunded and concentrates on tests . . . not basic learning skills.
  8. He has done nothing to help the first responders. Communication was clearly the biggest problem. All emergency agencies have to be able to communicate with one another--he knows that, Homeland Security knows that and FEMA knows that, yet none of them will address the problem. He is more interested in putting his friends in he administrative positions of these agencies so he can control them, than their qualifications for the job, which puts us all at risk, as Katrina proved. What if there was a terrorist attack? The Republicans strike down every bill to fix emergency communications, saying it's a state and local problem.
  9. He pledged to us a smaller government and has given us a larger government.
  10. He pledged an open and honest government and this is the most secret government we ever had.
  11. He took us to war in Afghanistan to capture or kill bin Ladin, the leader of 9/11. He said, "He can run but he can't hide." Yeah! Right!
  12. He said, "I'm a uniter, not a divider" and proceeded to split the country in half, with the only thing that could--propaganda disguised as religion.
  13. They have compromised our CIA by leaking an operative's name to the press.
  14. A new bill is being presented by the Democrats, putting Social Security's surplus in a lockbox, under a trust fund administration. To be invested in only the safest investments and stop the borrowing against our future. Let's back it. Call or write your representatives--now.
  15. Plan B, the morning after pill. Dr. Crawford, head of the FDA, is being forced to accept the religious right's policies in order to keep his job. Where this pill can be bought legally over the counter, it has reduced abortions. There is no conception, and no baby involved, here. Why are they keeping it off the market? Because their main objective is and always has been to control women's bodies. In 1978, when running for office in Texas, Bush was pro-choice. And they say Gore flip-flops.
