Throughout
this campaign, Linda has made it clear that this campaign should
be about the professional careers the candidates have led. Linda’s
32 year career has been recognized with honors such as “Leader
in the Law, “Best Lawyers in America,” and the “President’s
Award of Excellence.” She is the only candidate who has
ever argued a case before the Supreme Court and has been involved
in more than 30 appellate cases in state and federal courtrooms.
Yesterday,
the Wisconsin State Journal shed some light on Annette
Ziegler’s professional record…

March 4, 2007 - Supreme
Court candidate failed to reveal conflict
Wisconsin
Supreme Court candidate Annette Ziegler failed to disclose a
conflict of interest in at least four cases over which she presided
as a circuit judge in the past year, interviews and court documents
indicate. Failing to disclose a conflict would put a judge in
violation of rules enforced by the high court… read

Pioneering
Women of Wisconsin....
All
supporting Linda Clifford for Wisconsin Supreme Court
Linda,
a pioneer for women in her own right, has the support of many
of the women who have shaped Wisconsin history and led the way
for women leaders across the country.
Vel
Phillips
Vel, a woman of many firsts, began her march for justice in
1951 when she was the first African American woman to graduate
from UW Law School. She was also the first woman and the first
African American ever elected to the Milwaukee Common Council.
In 1971 she became the first woman judge in Milwaukee County
and the first African American to serve in Wisconsin’s
judiciary. And in 1978 she was the first woman and African American
elected to a statewide constitutional office as Secretary of
State.
Tammy
Baldwin
In 1988, Tammy became the first woman to serve in the U.S. House
of Representatives from the State of Wisconsin and the first
non-incumbent, openly gay person to be elected to Congress.
Tammy has been a true pioneer for women in Wisconsin and a strong
leader on the national level, pulling together decision-makers
from both sides of the aisle to gain health care for all.
Ada
Deer
Ada is the first woman to serve as chair of the Menominee Nation
in Wisconsin. She is also the first woman to head the Federal
Bureau of Indian Affairs. In 1992, she became the first Native
American woman in Wisconsin to run for Congress, winning the
Democratic primary. Ada remains a nationally recognized social
worker, community organizer, activist, and political leader
forging the way for Native American women in Wisconsin and around
the nation.
Gwen
Moore
Gwen was the first African-American woman to be elected to the
Wisconsin State Senate. In 2004 she was elected Wisconsin’s
first African-American member of Congress. Moore has been an
effective champion of social justice and equal rights issues
and remains a strong voice for families in Southeastern Wisconsin.
Barbara
Lawton
In 2002, Barbara became the first woman elected to serve as
Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor. Lt. Governor Lawton has
received national and international recognition for her economic
development initiative, Wisconsin Women Equal Prosperity, which
is empowering women across the state.
Peg
Lautenschlager
In 2002, Peg became Wisconsin’s first woman to be elected
to the office of Attorney General. She has an extensive background
in public service and led the way for women through her work
as a Wisconsin State Representative and U.S. Attorney.
Kathleen
Falk
In 1997, Kathleen was the first woman elected County Executive
of Wisconsin’s second largest county, a position she holds
today. In 2002, she was the first woman in Wisconsin history
to run for Governor on a major party ticket.
