Barron County Courthouse
The
meeting was called to order
by Chairman Cecil Kippenhan.
All present introduced them, as there were
new people present.
Secretary’s report was read and approved,
as was the Treasurer’s report.
Old
Business
We had 6 members at State convention. Jason
Rae ran against 2 prominent opponents, and won a seat on the
Democratic National Committee. It was reported that there were
many wonderful speakers. Over 1000 were present. Invitations
were extended to our Aug. 28th Rally to many prominent area
democrats.
The Feingold Steering Committee will meet in
Shell Lake on July 1st at 6:30.
Pam Fall is running for County Clerk and is
participating in many local parades and activities.
Clarice Fall reported on information being
passed out at parades, states it is very expensive, asked for
discussion on less expensive ways to print them.
Judy reported on the planning committee. Howard
Bichler has secured a 20-20 tent and is doing flyers for parades.
All donated funds are to be sent to Betty Vogel.
We need to find folks by highways, who would
be willing to allow placement of signs for advertising.
Pork sandwiches, sweet corn, and watermelon
are planned for the rally, hope to get all but the pork donated.
Tom Richie is head of the food committee.
Ed Garvey and Frank Boyle plan to attend the
rally.
Dave Obey's Represenative Don Gerhardt discussed
the D and 53 highway project states 2 million has been earmarked
for this project and it now being rejected by some in Chetek,
money must be used for this project, it cannot be re-routed
to another project. Also let us know Dave Obey cannot be at
our rally, as he will be in Normandy dedicating a memorial.
There was a call for people to sigh up for
the Chetek Liberty Fest parade.
July 10th is the Spooner parade., they would
like our float to take part.
New
Business
June 28th from 5-8 fundraiser for Frank Boyle.
He is facing a tough race and needs support.
Mary Hubler is running opposed needs support
from all.
The Fair is coming up July 14-18th please sign
up to work; Key is in Farm booth. Just ask.
Next meeting will be at the Barron County Courthouse
auditorium on July 8th at 7:00.
Ralph Pitzrick moved for adjournment and there
was a 2nd by Don Gerhardt.
