Thursday, March 13, 2008
Barron County Courthouse Auditorium

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by acting Chair Jason Rae.

There was no Secretary’s report.

Clarice Fall gave the Treasurer’s Report. She reported that we had a total of $2,110.40 cash on hand. It was moved and seconded to accept the Treasurer’s Report. All present voting aye.

Joyce Kaseno, Barron County Register of Deeds, gave a talk about the changes going on in her office and their relationship with the County Board.

Jason Rae proceeded with a discussion of the Presidential Delegate Selection Caucuses to take place on Sunday, April 6th at 2:00pm. He went through the procedure on becoming a delegate to the Democratic National Convention and highlighted all necessary deadlines. This process is different than the process to become a delegate to the Congressional District or State Party Convention.

Jason spoke about the 7th Congressional District Convention to take place on Saturday, April 26th in Chippewa Falls and the State Convention to take place on June 13-14 in Stevens Point. In order to be a delegate to either convention from Barron County, please notify Clarice Fall.

Jason then spoke about his endeavors recently as a member of the Democratic National Committee. He also announced that he was running for re-election to the DNC in June at the State Party Convention.

A discussion was then had on a float for local parades. Marge Lindemann moved, and was seconded by Jim Heerey, to create a Float Committee. Marge presented some ideas on a float design. The committee will come back next month with more concrete plans and an estimated dollar amount.

Steve Perala then talked about the role of NUE in working with the local county party during the election year.

There was a period of announcements and then it was moved to adjourned, seconded, and passed unanimously.

Respectfully submitted,
Jason Rae
Acting Chair and Acting Secretary
