Barron County Courthouse
The
meeting was called to order
by Chairman Cecil Kippenhan, with 33 present.
The need for yard
signs was discussed. Mary Hubler will attempt to get them on
the Internet; 1,000 are to be ordered, but there is no guarantee,
as it is getting late. The overabundance of Bush-Cheney signs
was noted.
Bob Eckersdorfer
will contribute $200 toward signs; Jerry Schlei will give us
$100 toward this endeavor.
There will be a
literature drop October 23rd.
Secretary and treasurer
submitted their reports and they were accepted.
Old
business:
Between 600 and
750 attended the rally. Much favorable press was generated.
New
business:
A Feingold meeting
will be held at Matty's Restaurant in Cumberland on October
6th at 6:30.
Pam Fall and Joan
Frandrup were present at Chetek Harvest Fest to distribute literature.
Barron race on Saturday.
Peggy Vogt will co-ordinate a booth for the Democrats.
Pam Fall reports
her campaign is going well.
Clarice is working
on absentee ballots. A large turnout is expected in November.
Tom Ritchie reported
that the new Justice Center may bring in outside inmate to generate
revenue.
Ad for candidates
to be drawn up; $1,000 has been set aside for this. A layout
will be submitted on the 21st. Photos will be needed for this.
Renting a Democratic
drop-in center for the Barron COunty area is in progress. $500
will be contributed by Dave Obey's group for this endeavor.
Senator Kohl's representative,
Marge Bunce, reported an upcoming rally on October 10th at the
Buck horn Bar from 3-6.
Jason states the
web site has been down. Should be up again by the end of the
month.
Mr. J. P. Nogues
from Mr. Kerry's office brought signs and films to be used by
those who would care to use them.
There was much discussion
on rental space in Rice Lake for a Democratic headquarters.
A need to contact
people on our rally list was brought up. It was suggested that
we contact all on the list while enthusiasm is high and ask
for contributions. It was decided to do this on Wednesday, the
22nd at the courthouse at 6:30. Letters will be drawn up and
hand-addressed.
Bob Eckersdorfer
will donate $40 for postage.
Next meeting will
be October 21st at Democratic headquarters in Rice Lake.
There was a call
for adjournment with all in favor.
