The meeting was called to order by Kip Kippenhan at 7:00 pm

Secretary's report
found on the web site.

Treasury report: Ending balance in August was $1,489.26 and the balance for September is $1,505.31. Motion to arpprove was accepted.

Introductions: 16 members present

OLD BUSINESS
Response to our letter to Rep. Obey regarding his stance on HR 4—there has been no response yet.

Fred Bannister had an explanation regarding some of the issues related to health care and Rep. Obey's vote on HR 4.

Michael Moore's movie "Sicko" was suggested as being a good movie to show at some future meeting.

Kip reported on the various parades the party was in this summer and the '07 county fair.

Discussion was held on the construction of our own parade float.

Motion made, seconded and carried to construct our own float.

NEW BUSINESS
Harold Kringle brought up a recent mailing from Russ Feingold seeking funds to set up a new group to assist withelecting Democrats throughout the US.

Ron Brewster noted that he had received a thank you note from the Chetek Food Shelf.

Fred Bannister spoke about health care/campaign finance reform. No changes will be made on the health care issue unless campaign finance reform becomes a reality. Fred refered to a book:
Politicians: owned and operated by Corporate America, by Jack Lohman. Both Fred and Jim Heerey discussed campaign finance reform. John Stellmacher suggested the concept of being a "conduit" to support candidates.

No elected officials were present.

Donations of food went to the Cameron food shelf.
